We just bought this machine and made our first latte --- AMAZING. We are so impressed by the high quality and ease of use. Prior to this we knew little about professional espresso brewing, but after reading the quick start guide, we jumped right in and it turned out incredible. The espresso drinks are some of the best we have ever had -- just as good as our favorite coffee shops'. Heavy duty cast iron built. We were a little afraid to make this purchase, as we have friends who have been disappointed with other machines costing less than $1,000. We did not want to pay $1,000 for ours, and are so glad we did not. This machine satisfies our need for delicious espresso :) We just bought a second machine for our brother for Christmas.

I have to admit I'm not a coffee expert but I can tell the difference between good and not-so-good coffee and this machine does make good coffee, much better coffee that I can usually get from a local Starbucks. Very solid construction, brass filter holder has very nice weight to it. This is my first real espresso maker and so far I'm very pleased. I bought it refurb elsewhere but it was as good as new - no signs of previous use. Most of the previous (positive) reviews are spot-on, and the pressure gauge does work despite what some reviewers said, they either didn't grind/pack cofee properly or got a defective unit. Very intuitive and easy to use, I find default settings acceptable but may experiment with the programming feature. Consistently makes very tasty espresso with the Lavazza beans I use, I was hoping for more crema but can't really complain. Will have to upgrade my cheapo conical burr grinder as the finest grind it produces is still to coarse for this machine - I can barely get the needle to enter the optimum range even after hard tamping, I'm finding that I can get better results with blade grinder I also have.

Minus 1 star for all the following rather minor nuisances:

- cup warming plate is not warm enough, non-heated cup top shelf would be a greener option which also wouldn't affect my electric bill
- to power it on after auto shut-off I have to press power button twice, the first press makes the power button briefly illuminate and then nothing happens, possibly an isolated defect
- the frothing attachment is not working well for me, takes long time to foam the milk, and then there is not enough texture added to milk after all; also there is often a fair amount of water that leaks from the steam wand before the steam actually starts
- the hot water wand occasionally leaks some water, need to remember to keep it pointed inside the machine so the water ends up in the tray and not on the counter
- the power cord is very short - it is a touted "safety" feature but many, myself including, will have to add an extension cord which sort of defeats the original purpose

Update: frothing is no longer an issue after I cleaned the steam wand opening, it lets lot more steam out now, almost too much, the frothing is really quick.

I was very excited when I received my Breville BES820XL. I looks awsum and produced much better coffee than the Senseo which I was using.
Soon the pump began to fail, and was making a lot of noise but no pressure.
Pump was replaced and the unit worked fine for about 10 cups and started leaking and had no pressure. My ground fault circuit blew constantly.
I openend up the machine and found a cracked plastic nut on the electric valve which connects the tubing to the pressure gauge. This nut was never removed for replacing the pump, so it was a complete new issue.
You need to buy a commplete new valve to have that fixed!!!
They do not sell the nuts by themselves. That is about 50% of the cost of the entire machine without labor.
Wished all tubing was copper. Would never buy a second one.

I have used it in two high volume restraunts and it has performed better than my coworkers' Shun and Global knives. This is a very large sauce pan, more than adequate for our needs. It browns meats well and is excellent for saute... however, after just a few uses it shows "scuff marks" on the sides and bottoms. Not scratches, as I am very careful with the utensils I use... only plastic, never metal. It has a warranty but a very generic one (for manufacturers defects only). Just hope these "scuff marks" do not escalate.

After weeks of research we ended up selecting the Jura-Capresso ENA 4.

I was a bit skeptical that this small little super automatic could really replace our larger manual and brew quality espresso. I went to a local retailer and was fortunate enough to be able to use a demo unit. I was amazed by how simple and intuitive the ENA 4 is to use; while at the same time provides a level of flexibility and control well beyond my expectations.

If you're looking for a super automatic, I highly recommend you take a look at the ENA. Our unit has exceeded our expectations. Great espresso and lattes!

This is our third Capresso (or Jura Capresso) superautomatic coffee machine. In our experience these machines last only a few years before needing repair but they make such good coffee, so easily and quickly, that we keep coming back to them. We've tried other brands and none rivals Jura Capresso's coffee. This is our first machine of the Ena generation, however. We just bought an Ena 3. While the coffee is as good as that of previous models, the new design is disappointing. The rotary dial is a pain but it is tolerable once you master it. The water tank, on the other hand, is an absolute nightmare. We can only make three mugs of coffee before it must be refilled, and the rear location of the tank makes that task very difficult, especially since our machine must be located on a kitchen countertop beneath upper cabinets. In addition we have under-cabinet lighting, and it's hard to remove the water tank for refilling without bumping into the lights and burning your hand. In my opinion the few inches reduction in the width of the machine is insignificant compared to the inconvenience of the new water tank's size and location. Unless Jura redesigns the water tank, I doubt we'll be buying a fourth coffeemaker from them. Maybe we'll just have our old one repaired and use it for a few more years!

I really like the feel of this knife. It's sold and balanced in when in use. It is a bit small so you might want to get a 8" knife or larger if you're going to be using this knife to do a lot of chopping and or slicing. It's sharp enough to cut through most anything you will be cooking and the feel is the best part. It makes slicing and chopping a joy. It's makes it even more of a pleasure to cook.

I ordered this knife shortly after returning the J.A. Henckel's 4 star Chef knife. This was $30 more, but in a whole different class. The quality of the knife is immediately evident. It has a good heft but is not heavy. It is very well balanced especially when holding the knife with the blade between your thumb and forefinger. Keeping the tip on the board it easily handles whatever you ask of it. I have the 9 inch which I suspect is not as agile as the standard 8 inch, but it feels very light and effortless. I compared the weight to my 8 inch Chicago Cutlery knife which weighs about the same but feels so much more cumbersome when cutting. I cannot explain, it must be the way the knife is balanced. In short, this is what I had hoped for when I spent $129 on a knife.

I chose to try the Master Chef 2 construction because it is the line used in the Food Network's 'Iron Chef America' kitchens, and I wanted something to replace both a very old, very thin stainless steel pot and a newer, but very, very heavy Calphalon anodized aluminum pot. As with everything else I have gotten from the Master Chef 2 line, this piece does a better job than anything of the same size and shape which I have replaced. I have both the 2 quart saucepan and saucier, and find that I really need both. The saucepan is superior for straight cooking, as when making rice or blanching small vegetables, but the saucier is superior for, you guessed it, making sauces, risottos, oatmeal, and anything else which requires constant stirring. And, you often need to do both at the same time, so they make a very nice team.

I've only had this pan for about a week now, but so far it's been just what I needed. I've used to to warm cream and, along with a metal Amco mixing bowl, serve as a double boiler, where I prefer a pan taller than it is wide, and it's worked just fine. I don't think the appearance is as attractive as the stainless or even the LTD lines, but it's not bad, really. Performance matters more, anyway. Plus, I found this pan mis-marked at Dillard's for a mere $23.75, so I wasn't going to pass it up just because it isn't shiny on the outside. A pan of this size and shape is very handy to have, and I would buy this one again without hesitation...even though I personally would rather have the stainless, mainly because I wonder how well the exterior will wear.
